Types of Doors
There are many different types of doors available in the market, each with different aesthetics, property and price point. Each type of door is manufactured using different materials and techniques, thus have varying qualities such as fire rated or water resistance. The features, advantages and disadvantages are listed here to facilitate the selection process for business and home owners.

Wood Doors
Traditionally, wood has been a popular mainstream choice for both Doors and Windows. Its main advantage is that it is widely available in the market and its material characteristics. However, there are many types of Wood to suit different usage of doors throughout the house.
1. Solid Core Doors
These doors are made of jointed laminated timber with added strength and durability. Fire-Rated doors can be made using a certified proprietary mix of solid core boards and laminates to withstand the different durations of a raging fire, a life-saving property that is often neglected. Designer Doors can also be made by applying a specially designed veneer over the Fire-Rated door or solid core door, giving it superior aesthetic qualities.

2. Merbau Doors 
Merbau is long lasting and durable with beautiful natural wood grains. They are comparable to Teak but at a more affordable price. Merbau Doors is suitable for use as main doors as well as in kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms. Merbau is highly resistant to termites and other beetles due to high mineral, oil and silica content.

3. Engineered Doors (Framed and Panelled Doors)
Engineered Doors (Frame and Panelled doors) are the most common type of door for domestic usage. The shutter panels out of timber, plywood, block board, hard board, etc. A number of designs can be made on the panels, thereby making such door quite decorative. Such doors have a flexibility of design which can look aesthetically pleasing. The design can be made according to the requirement and location in the house.

4. Classic Doors
A Classic door is a door made of plywood or Medium Density Fiberboard fixed over timber frame which is comparatively light. Classic doors are commonly provided within the interiors of the house as it looks pleasant while having a low price point, giving great value to the home owner.

Polywood Doors

Polywood is a made with a blend of recycled plastic and wood, thus is highly resistant to corrosive substance, insects and will not rot or crack, therefore making it a highly recommended material for the construction industry in the form of panels and doors. There are several types of doors for wet areas such as kitchens and bathrooms. As these doors need to withstand prolonged exposure to moisture, waterproof material such as aluminium and PVC are usually used. These doors may come with vents or bi-fold for better ventilation and easier access.
